PPA Tour Asia Hong Kong Open 2025 Tournament Update Venise Chan and Lam Ying Suet Advance Together Amy Chan Ranks Fourth in Amateur Division
(Hong Kong, 21 August, 2025) The “PPA Tour Asia Hong Kong Open 2025” got underway today and is being held from August 21 to 24 at the Kai Tak Arena, Kai Tak Sports Park. On the first day of the Pro Division competitions, Hong Kong ladies players Venise Chan and Lam Ying Suet both advanced through the Women’s Singles Qualifier to secure their spots in the main draw.
The Women’s Singles Qualifier featured two all-Hong Kong matchups. Venise Chan first defeated her Japanese opponent 11-4, 11-6, then went on to defeat Hong Kong’s Man Kwan Wun 11-5, 11-5. Meanwhile, Lam Ying Suet beat her Indonesian opponent 11-5, 11-9, followed by a victory against another Hong Kong player, Wong Yuet, with scores of 11-4, 11-3.
In the amateur division, former Hong Kong badminton star Amy Chan participated after competing in the PPA Tour Asia Malaysia Open. She played in the Women’s Singles 50+ (3.5 And Above) category and delivered a strong performance, ultimately achieving fourth place.
Amy Chan remarked: “I am thrilled to be back on the competitive court through the sport of pickleball! I’ve been playing for about a year and find the sport very easy to pick up. It allows me to apply all the skills in maneuvering opponents that I developed in badminton, and the strategies involved in shifting from defense to offense are really fascinating. The Kai Tak Arena is an wonderful venue and I thoroughly enjoyed this competition experience!”
On 22 August, the Pro Division will feature the Main Draw, including the Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, and Mixed Doubles. Six Hong Kong players are set to compete, namely: Wong Hong Kit, Ryan Lam, Tang Nok Yiu, Wong Hong Yi, Venise Chan, and Lam Ying Suet. In the amateur division, Olympic gymnastics legend Li Xiaopeng will take part in the Mixed Doubles 35+ (3.5 And Above) category.
